Saturday round up!

It hasn't been as busy as last week, or as productive but just as pleasant!

I got up late which is quite a joy for me, about the only thing that me and Paul don't have in common is our love of the morning.  He bounces out of bed at some unearthly hour, I on the other hand, crawl out of bed whether it's 6am or midday. I don't do mornings, I'm grumpy, it takes me ages to wake up and mornings generally don't amuse me. Having said that I rarely sleep in as usually Paul wakes me as he's getting up but this morning I didn't hear a thing and slept right through til gone 9, bliss for me!

We had a repeat of last weeks Huevos Rancheros Breakfast as we had the ingredients YAY!

Then I got dressed, and one thing I've been aware of lately is how little I wear all my vintage accessories, because I work from home I rarely wear jewellery on a daily basis which is a shame as I do have some lovely pieces. So today I made an effort and put these lovely 50s clips in my hair, the pic doesn't do them justice, how on earth do you take a pic of the side of your head!!

I have a few of these clips and I never wear them, well I'm going to rectify that!

Then I was cleaning up a bit and thought I'd share something with you in our house that means something to us. I like things in the house having a story behind it, like remembering where you bought it, why you bought it, were you on holiday, did a friend give it you for your wedding, you know the kind of thing.

Well here are one of the things we have in our house with a story behind them

These are vintage postcards from one of our favourite places on earth Pasadena CA. We love Pasadena, we've been there often, we even stayed there for 2 months once, rented an apartment and lived as normal a life as you can without working. We loved it, we'd love to do it again someday. Anyway we have 6 of these postcards as we feel Pasadena is a huge part of us and so that should be reflected in our house, I love looking at them, obviously they are not totally reflective of how it looks now but it's not far off!

Do you have stories behind the things in your house?

Then, and this is probably not a big deal to most people but I baked! I cook from scratch pretty much every night but I have never ever baked, I guess the biggest reason is I haven't got a sweet tooth so I'm not going to put a whole heap of work into something I don't particularly want to eat, however I love cheese scones! So I made cheese scones and they tasted great! I'm so proud!!

The burnt looking bits are cheese on the top so not actually burnt! Also I didn't have any greaseproof/baking paper and my non stick stuff is worse for wear so you know what came in handy....

Yep the 60s baking paper I found at my mums at Christmas!!

I can't believe I used something over 50 years old to help with my baking today, ha ha!

Hope you've all had a great Saturday, I am now sat typing this with a gin and tonic, ah Saturday we do love you!

Those scones look delicious, I'd probably polish the whole lot off in one go, slathered in best butter, yum!
I think I could probably tell a tale about everything in our house. I suppose that's the fun of not shopping at Ikea. Those postcards must bring bad happy memories everytime you look at them.
That hair slide is gorgeous but I'm distracted by your beautiful hair, what a stunning colour it is.
Cheers, love! xxx

I too, am envious of your red! Great postcards, its nice to have things like that around. Even if its something small - you smile when you remember where you bought it.
Cheese scones look delicious...I never think to make savory bakes really, so you have given me food for thought (literally!)

Oh my dear, and here I live so close to Pasadena I feel guilty! The weather is about 70F/21C, sunny and it's a beautiful day!

Spring has sprung here in southern CA. =)
