When you sew, just saying this for the non sewers, you see ideas all the time that you think, ooooh I could do that, that's a great idea, what an inspiration etc.
Sadly I'm not sewing at the moment as I joined weightwatchers and would like to get a little weight off first, so whilst I'm not sewing I thought I'd have a trawl through my 'inspiration' file. There are some really cute things in it, mostly stuff I've seen on ebay and thought, that's nice but not too hard to rustle up. Fingers crossed when I start shifting this weight I can start to experiement a little with my sewing.
Now this first one doesn't look so easy but wow I'd love to give something like this a go, it's fabulous!
This would be so easy, I do love pom poms on clothing, in fact I definately plan to make some capri pants with pom poms on the bottom!
Then lurex, I do love lurex, if only you could find decent lurex now, I can't find it anywhere, if I do I will probably make these 2 lovelies!
These next 2 dresses are very similar in design but I love the use of colour and detail on them, see not hard to make, just need to accessorise correctly!
So there you have it, some inspirations for sewing. Do you do this? Do you have an inspiration board or photos that you file away thinking, yep I'm going to use that? I'd be interested to know!

Oooo,I love the pom poms!EEEK! I'd like to gte my hands on some. Those are all darling ideas! I get myself so overloaded by ideas that I couldn't possibly accomplish them all,but it's great to have them.X
Hi Fiona....yep I do it all the time. I've been known to take photos of frocks in shop windows to copy and save many, many quids. I use mood boards too and they're a throwback to college days all those years ago. I love doing them, they're sort of relaxing. xxx
What inspiration! There was an Asian stall on the flea market oday selling the most marvellous trimmings including pom poms in a multitude of colours. I'll have to get some next week. xxx
I wish I had the talent to sew again. How's weight watchers going? I have a few friends who have dropped a LOT of weight over the last couple years. They inspire me but unfortunately I have absolutely no will power these days. Wishing you good luck!
I do the same thing! Usually it's really expensive vintage clothing I think I can make for myself :)
LOVE the last two! What great inspiration!
I'm not a sewer at all, but I love to see what others make. =)
Best I can do is run hems up on curtains lol...
Love the forst dress! Yep, I also have an inspiration folder on my computer full of vintage clothing pictures. I've had plans to draft both a proper 50s shelf bust and petal bust dress pattern for ages but always get wrapped up in another sewing project so it gets put on the back burner. As soon as I have time it will be my next project.
Love the blue dress. I get inspired reading through old vintage magazines and seeing what the ladies wore back then i then try to find a pattern the same or similar if i can, im also inspired by seeing and reading other peoples blog posts and seeing their makes etc. dee x
Yes I have “inspiration” stuff as well! I keep pics of stuff that I’ve seen and like, design ideas etc as you’ve got, and I’ve done that for years. I used to have a scrap book full of photos, pictures, drawings, old patterns etc that I’d cut out of mags and books. Now I keep it all in a file on the computer and add to it regularly. I love the pom poms by the way, I bought some from the market a while ago but haven’t sewn them on anything yet.

I have several folders filled with inspiration for outfits to be made on my computer. Even though I don't sew it's always fun to look for outfit inspiration. Currently I'm in a playsuit/bathing suit inspiration mode since the heat has arrived in Texas!
Also - pom pom capris! EEEEEEEE!!!!! Those would be fantastic! I love that turquoise pom pom dress too!
The one with the pom-poms! That's just too cute. I often save images for outfit inspiration - but sometimes I feel a bit creepy saving pictures of other bloggers! It's not at all creepy but I do feel a bit odd at times. Haha.

Fabulous inspirations! Love them all. Good luck with WW and remember "if you bite it write it" :). WW worked wonders for me, I've been a member for a long time now.
Cheers,
Patty
Well you know me, I'm a sewing gal so I get my inspiratio from all over, usually tear sheets from magazines. I have a door behind my desk that I stick up all the styles, colours etc that I like for when I'm in the creative mood
Vintage patterns! I love vintage. I like the 40's and the 50's style of clothing.
Love the blue dress and I can see myself in the red/white one. Thanks for the inspiration!
Hi Fiona! I can't find your email address. I found something rather silly at this morning's boot sale I though you'd like. Email me your address to goanmad(at)hotmail(dot)com and it's yours. xxx
Those examples are very couture, very customized. And the fabrics are luxe. The turquoise is a fine, lightweight linen, the marigold is a woven silk. Anyone thinking that these are "easy" - is wrong. Like anything that is well done, it only "looks easy". I am both a master at tailoring and a master seamstress, and I can see that, although there are few pattern pieces to these designs, "the devil is in the details".
I made my daughters prom dress in 2003 it was a vogue patten I nearly took a breakdown trying to get it finished it on time, I agree with the last comment it is not easy I'm a ten year qualified sewing machinist, but it was worth the effort to see my daughter in it and for her to have a unique dress and not a mass produced one that all the other girls wore
Fabulosos dresses,I love the skiy blue pom pom dress.
I dont sew either.
Hi Fiona, I have just come across your blog via Vintage Vixen and loving your writing.
I carry around an A5 sketch book and scribble all sorts of stuff in there, ideas for outfits, descriptions & sketches for clothes I have seen (either in windows or on people), fabric samples, bits & bobs. Sadly I have been doing this for about 25 years so have bulging files of "ideas", some of which are now classed as vintage by those who weren't born then! And then of course there is all the vintage (mostly pre-1970s) that I have collected that never fails to inspire me.
After a sewing hiatus forced upon me by having children, I am finally getting back into sewing and loving it again. Blogs like yours are excellent inspiration!
Oh!!! i love the second lurex shirt! I dont find never!!!! :(
