Sad to announce...

That Notorious Kitsch will be closing it's internet doors in the next few months, a victim of recession and banks grrrrrr!

It's kind of a sad day but also a relief in a way. This recession has been tough on the best of them, whoever thought Habitat would go out of business, or good old Woolworths.

Anyway it's time, sad but true. It's not immediate, we need to sell the stock we have to pay back the debt we have as a business. It's really hard to run something and build it for a few years for it all to just go horribly wrong, but people aren't spending anywhere like they were and we can't live on air alone!

So I'm a bit sad but now have tons to do :o(

Here's me in happier times on my stall when I was actually making some money, oh and drinking ha ha!

I'm very sorry. It is tough in this economy to make ends meet under the best of circumstances. Hopefully something promising will come your way soon.

Hi Fiona...that is bad news. It is so tough out there right now and as you say, who would have thought these big, old established names would have gone? I'm with Tasha and hope that as one door closes, another will open.

So sorry to hear that. We feel the economies pinch too, it's scary. I hope you are able to clear out lots and pay off some bills in the next couple of months.

awww sorry to hear it, BUT, a smart business person knows when one business has played itself out. Think of a new business that people want/need during this recession.

Just one example. I had a crew come in and chop down the backyard. It got out of control. I asked the guy if times were tough for him, because so many homes were foreclosed, I imagined there were less people wanting yard services.

To my surprise he answered: "No, we're doing better than ever. We also haul off junk from those yards where people had to move out, and clean up landscapes for resale, so business has never been better."

Think outside the box, think about what the needs of people are now. :)

Fiona I am so sorry to hear that my heart goes out you and your husband. It is so tough to be self employed these days (as my husband and I are finding out with his new self owned barber shop).
Best wishes to you for moving on to new ventures and such.

I'm so sorry to hear that! I liked your stall, but like so many others, I didn't have much money to shop when I was at the Rave.

I know with your brain and your attitude that you will find another business or career that suits you and pays the bills.

Big hug and kisses xxx

A sad day indeed :( But i know that relief when it comes to closing a business. It is hard - work wise and emotionally - but OH!! When its done - there is nowt like it. You will walk taller without all that weight on your shoulders.

I am so sorry to hear about your business closing, Fiona. In late 1999/early 2000, my husband's company had to file for bankruptcy to due the techno-bubble bursting and due to shady partners. It was very hard on us emotionally and financially but we eventually recovered. My husband started a new business in 2003 and it has been doing well. Granted, there have been ups and downs but overall, things worked out. I hope things will work out for you too. I also hope that your work with Miss L Fire will be good for you. I know from experience that staying busy helps a lot.

I'm sorry to hear that. People are definitely buying less -myself included. I can tell a huge difference. I think that good selling days will come back around again so if you want to do it again in the future, I know you'll be able to.

hi fiona
what a heartbreaking decision but thought atomic ranch´s advice was well said- a smart person knows a good business idea when they see it- a smarter one knows when its time to move on. As hard as I can only begin to imagine things are for you both I applaud you in your courage to take action sooner rather than later. Thinking of you both. michele xx

AAAHHH, I remember that feeling, when I closed my shop. It's hard to imagine someone wouldn't want all our cool stuff, but you are right! Times are tough. You'll miss it, but like everyone's saying, you'll be fine ..
