Time to rethink my hair....

I am really enjoying my new found love - ok toleration! - of exercise however it poses a problem with my hair.

I am not someone who goes to the gym with red lipstick on, I don't feel the need to be vintage in the gym, or in the pool, I am 'vintage' if such a thing exists inside myself so I don't need to show it to people in the gym & the pool. However my hair is an entirely different matter, I don't care about wearing modern gym clothes - within reason of course - and I don't mind wearing a cheap modern swimsuit as it will get wrecked by the chlorine within a short time anyway but my hair, what to do?

I haven't been able to set my hair in more than a week, when I go to the pool even when I wear a swimming hat I need to wash the chlorine out as it seeps in, and when I go to the gym, it gets all sweaty anyway, so I'm rethinking my hair. I want it shorter anyway but I'm trying to find a style that I can set or just wear anyway without looking crazy, I have wild thick crazy hair that if I don't do at least something with I will just look like a crazy lady.

So I searched the internet and have come up with some great inspiration. First up here's me with the shortest hair I've had although at the moment it's longer. Do you think I'd be ok going shorter? I'm interested to know you're opinion, I don't want to compromise style for comfort so to speak but I need something where I feel good everyday.

How fab does Elizabeth Taylor's hair look here? I suspect though it's not much shorter than my hair above, but it's not 'set' as such so I guess this is an idea

This is kinda cute but not sure it would suit me, but it looks easy.

I do like this but it might be a bit too fussy, what do you think?

I really do like this but it's such a departure from my normally curled and set hair! It's slightly scary but it could be the one eeek

I used to have my hair very similar to this when it was bleached blonde years ago, not sure if would translate as well to red hair, although she is a cutie isn't she?

So opinions please? I will of course get the very lovely Nina from Nina's Hair Parlour to sort it out, and I'm sure she's give me an opinion too, but would love to know what you all think in the meantime!

The one you are most scared of! Then at least you would have tried it. Let me know when you are off to Nina's! I could be ready for a trim too

All super-cute, but I do like the two dark ones - Liz and Scary. I'm desperately in need of a haircut - I cancelled an appointment the day my husband ended up in hospital in April and haven't got round to re-arranging yet. So I'm the one who looks like crazy-woman...Have fun deciding!

PS Loved your finds from Saturday!

I have to give you a medal of honor for bravery. I think all those are cute but I personally would be terrified to go that short but I also have super straight hair and none of those would solve a setting problem for me. My own personal choice would be the one you mentioned having in the past with blonde hair I think it would translate well to a lovely in the picture does have darker shade after all.

I think you should go with the one with the curl - it's cute and sassy and hey, it's just hair, you can always change it again.

I love your hair in the first photo. The color is to die for! (dye, hahah)
I also like the third and final pics.
Making think about having short hair again. All I do with my long hair is pin it up so I figure it might as well be short.

I think they would all suit you a treat - but you are right you have to be comfortable with what you have on your bonce.

The 2nd option is so beautiful. I think it would look lovely with your colour too. It may be the scariest option but i think it looks wonderful and would suit you too :D

I adore the one you're slightly scared of! You've got such a beautiful face you could really carry it off a treat! x

Seems to me you could style your hair like any of these photos if you trimmed your hair the the same length. I love them all!!

You're gorgeous and could carry them all off. I like the scary best. xxx

I agree with Shona - the one you're most scared of! I love your hair in the picture of you, too. I used to be so daring with my hair but now I'm kind of stuck in a rut with it.

I bit the bullet and had my hair cut quite short and I've never regretted it (altho my husband would prefer me with long hair, but I told him if he wants long hair, grow it yourself, buster). I always loved Doris with that haircut but it's really too short (and sort of butchy, too). Good luck!

I LOVE the "scary one" as well! Liz is always a good look too! I have fine, thin hair so when I work out, I simply put it into a ponytail. (And, yes, I wear red lipstick at the gym! I know it's a bit mad but I love my lipstick! lol!) Anyway, I am sure your stylist will have options and ideas for you. Speaking of, if my hair keeps shedding like it is, I may have to go shorter too! If I do decide to chop it off, I know my stylist, Corry, will be a great help! Overall, whatever style you pick, you are going to look smashing!
