I thought I'd tackle the issue of matching in clothes, shoes, jewellery and handbags. As a vintage gal who loves the 40s and 50s era matching is just natural for me. I'm not saying what is right or wrong, but for me, colours have got to be matching or complementary. Of course nowadays it's considered a faux pas to match your shoes and bag but I love it.
Only the other night, I went out with my lucite bag, which inside contained a matching powder compact and a matching comb, no one knew but I did and it gave me joy, perhaps weird but I love it!
Here is my bag and the picture after are the matching accessories, all bought separately of course. Perhaps one day I'll get some gorgeous shoes to match!
So I had a look online to see other matching items and I came up with a few.
This is just a gorgeous picture from Life!
These are just a beautiful pair of shoes with matching handbag.
And I've saved the best for last, oh my god if I could have this set, it actually makes my heart beat slightly quicker, the colour, the style *swoon*
So are you a matching type or do you hate it?

Yes I love it, I particularly like dresses and shoes that match or coat and hat.
Love it! I remember ages ago when I was first really starting to get into vintage clothes I polled some friends on LiveJournal about matching (yes, that long ago!) and everyone was pretty much horrified at the idea. Oh well, I disagreed with them all and did it anyway! Of course, they also thought stockings and peep toes was bad as well, and I know they didn't have those toe-free stockings back in the day. ;)
I've always thought it was very sophisticated and classy. Sadly I've never pulled it off to the level of gorgeous matching sets like you've shown. But if I pull in a complementary color I will make sure at least one accessory matches, or I feel 'off'! Once we move and I have more a little more space for things like shoes and purses, I definitely want to try and round out some of the holes I have in that regard. :)
I love matching but also love mix matching too.
your bag and comb accessories is so gorgeous.
besios
I like a bit of matching. I like bag and shoes matchy matchy...that last set is to die for!xxx
An outfit needs some co-ordination in order to pull it together and make it look "finished" properly.
I don't care if it's a faux pas to think so because I don't subscribe to loads of fashion wisdoms - leggings being a substitute for skirt or trousers being just one of many!
I tend to match but only because a lot of my shoes are black or brown...and so are a lot of my bags!
I don't mind tonal matches (which, in the UK, many people would have as in days gone by people tended to have a few 'good' shoes and bags not loads- perfect match was desirable but not realistic for most British women) and even outright/outrageous clashing at times.
My only pet hate is the brown/black or navy/black clash which just shouts 'these shoes don't match'. But then again, for brown/black...leopard print is a wonderful solution...
I love matchy matchy too, oh those green shoes and matching handbag are making me drool!
BTW met you t'other night at Ric Rac and confessed you were my idol as a teen (about TWENTY years ago aaargh!! showing our age)! Lovely to meet you in the flesh, looking gorgeous! Hope to hear you sing again one day :)
Ah Sorcha it was lovely to meet you and you really did make my night you were so lovely!
I love all things matchy matchy, but I don't think I've EVER been fortunate enough to find vintage pieces that matched so perfectly. Swoon!
I match things as often as I can! If my shoes or bag are really unique and can't be easily, matched, I don't worry about it but I usually match my accessories to be the same color or complimentary colors as the rest of my outfit. I wonder why and when that became a "don't" I think it's always a do! :)
Wow, your bag is something else! I'm loving those green shoes, too.
I don't generally do matching - undies, bags, shoes, you name it. I'm not adverse to anyone else doing it, I'm just odd. x
I think you know that I'm a matchy matchu fan,but I do like to try and push myself not to!!! If I had exact sets like these,I'd be totally unstoppable!Your lucite set is to die for!XXX
I love it! Matching vintage bags and shoes are the best!
I'm with you Fiona, I feel wierd if I don't match things up, just the way I was brought up I guess!! I can't get the hang of this clashing business!!
I LOVE matching....especially shoes and other accessories!!!
Aaaah, brown shoes and bags love!
I like matchy-matchy. It looks complete, thought-out, as though an outfit has been carefully contructed rather than thrown together from random separates.
I colour match ALWAYS! I always have done, always will. I wear black, Navy, red, pink and white about 95% of the time. Even though only a small portion of my clothes are actually vintage, the things I do have are in these colours! I pick out my bags and shoes to match as well, and wear matching jewellery of course too. Mis-match looks fabulous on some people (Dora, Vix) but its just not me! I LOVE your confetti box bag by the way. I have some confetti screw backs that match it perfectly! ;)
I do love matching (or as close as possible!) Really love matching undies too!!!
I have quite a lot of Cath Kidston bits and I love it that my iPhone case, purse and Handbag all match. It is twee but who cares!
Love the green shoes/bag combo!!! x
Oh My goodness your Lucite bag is gorgeous i have never seen one like that its a beauty. Im with you on this topic i like to match everything up to but then as you know i love the 50's to ;-) dee x
I love matching my accessories. I generally go for a colour theme and tend to like to limit to 2 or 3 main colours. I love and admire those who can mix more colours together but I always feel a bit messy &, I suppose it says something of my personality, but I need more control. And that purse and the accessories are to die for!

Love it!!
The green ones are just to die for
I'm with you, I am not comfortable unless I'm matching. Shoes to purse, earrings with bracelet and or necklace, sometimes belt with shoes. I feel so much put together. I even try to match coats if the weather needs one.
I suppose if I am going to go to the trouble of doing my hair and make up in a certain era, shop for the clothes online and anywhere else I can, I am going to also emulate the era and match. Like I said in the first paragraph, I just feel more put together.
I’m a matchy match. I think it’s an addiction
